Already in 2003, the Heart Route ventured onto this traverse between Willisau in Lucerne and the Emmental. The stage has since gained cult status and is considered worryingly addictive. It takes travelers along winding paths through a landscape that is scarcely known. From Willisau, you pass through Zell in Lucerne into the Oberaargau, an atmospheric part of the canton of Bern that increasingly transforms into the Emmental. The hills grow higher, the ridge locations more impressive, the farmhouses more lush. At the latest in Affoltern, the route reaches a scenic crescendo that can hardly be surpassed. Wide views of the Alps and Jura frame the cascade of hills that spread out before us. Through the Gotthelf village of Lützelflüh, you follow the Emme riverbank path to Burgdorf, whose proud castle towers over the valley and welcomes you. Â
