This wonderful lake circuit can be done either from Lungern train station or from Kaiserstuhl train station. Along the way, various barbecue areas with firewood invite you to linger.

From Lungern train station, the route follows Bahnhofstrasse, passing the village chapel down to the lakeshore. After a short walk, the idyllic Inseli is already visible. The path continues along the lake shore to the village exit, where the main street is crossed and the path follows Mühlibachersträssli uphill. Past numerous farms and lush cow meadows. The view is even more beautiful up here. The path leads over natural roads and then down again, where the lake path is reached again thanks to an underpass. In Kaiserstuhl, the restaurant entices with its extraordinary dishes. The unique mountain panorama stretches far into the Bernese Alps with the three distinctive peaks of the Wetterhorn group. On the other side of the lake, the path first runs on an asphalt road and then on a natural path towards Obsee. Before Obsee, signposts indicate the short detour to the Dundelbach falls, which are definitely worth a visit. Now it is only a short way back to Lungern train station.

Lungern, the village awakens with the first rays of the sun. The birds chirp a morning song. Meadows and forests shine in rich green. Cowbells ring from the nearby pastures. The fresh mountain air invites you to a hike around Lake Lungern. I set off with joy and admire the beauty of this landscape. The people are friendly and the houses well kept. The emerald-green lake reflects the surrounding mountains.

At the lake, I sit on a bench, watch a fisherman and let my thoughts run free, escaping the everyday hustle and bustle. I am quite amazed at the fish the fisherman has just caught. The train glides silently up the mountain. I continue walking, past waterfalls and streams. At the edge of the forest, a deer stands and a bird of prey circles above the lake. I pause again and look at the idyllic village from a distance. I study the information along the path and learn a lot of interesting things about this unique place. A gentle wind makes the leaves on the trees dance. I listen to the music of nature. Passing gardens and wooden houses, I reach the chapel. A visit is definitely worthwhile. The inn invites you to another break. I enjoy the view and the foam on my coffee.

I must continue as I have only covered half the path, but I do not let haste arise. I could also take the train, but then I would experience and learn less. The air carries the scent of wood, wild garlic, and freshly cut grass. Orchids and lilies bloom in the dry meadows, frequently visited by rare insects. Colorful summer birds accompany me. The valley opens up, the view wanders to the islands in the lake and to the impressive church. Slightly lower stands the old church tower, the door is open. I climb up and admire the massive construction. I am surprised to learn about the past misfortune at this place.

The lake invites you to swim, stand up paddling, fishing or a boat trip. Next time I will bring the family and linger at one of the numerous barbecue spots. I love this landscape, the nature, the people and the culture. Here I feel at home, Lungern.
