After a short mountain ride with the Rotenfluebahn, we find ourselves in the middle of the winter hiking area of the Mythen region, high above Schwyz. The circular route, which is also suitable for seniors and children, starts directly at the mountain station.
It initially proceeds leisurely towards Alp Rotenfluh. Early on, we can enjoy the breathtaking panorama from the viewing platform: Schwyz and Lake Lauerz lie directly beneath us. In the background is Lake Lucerne, and the view wanders towards Pilatus. The Grosser Mythen seems within reach. The sun-exposed circular route then passes the paragliding launch site. Here too: take some time and enjoy watching the paragliders taking off.
On the way back, our gaze repeatedly wanders to the bare limestone cliffs of the Grosser Mythen. But the more distant Einsiedeln is also fascinating, the ski jumping hills can even be seen. Occasionally, a colorful paraglider silently floats into view. A must after the last steep ascent back to the mountain station: stop at the nearby restaurant and enjoy the magnificent mountain panorama with the Glarus Alps one last time.
