Hike

A nice hike past the Lauidamm to the Sakramentskapelle. Over Schintflue and Emmetti, it goes with a gentle descent to Kaiserstuhl at Lake Lungern. Then along the old Brünigstrasse through the beech forest back to the starting point.

From Giswil station, this circular hike leads to the Lauidamm, on the dam crest to the wooden bridge, and further on the Helferweg to the Geri. At the Altibach, you cross the road and climb the forest road alongside the Altibach with many reinforcements. A detour up to the waterfall is worthwhile. In 1923, a tunnel was dug here to bypass the waterfall with log rafts. It continues quite steeply over a bridge to the Sakramentskapelle. This chapel was built in 1522 as a reminder of a sacrilege in 1492. At that time, the tabernacle with the hosts was stolen from the parish church of Lungern and then poured out at this spot. This old pilgrimage site in the middle of the forest is a place of power; the spring under the chapel refreshes and promises healing for many ailments. Over Schintenflue and Emmetti, it goes with a gentle descent to Bürglen and Kaiserstuhl at Lake Lungern. From there, one partly hikes along the old Brünigstrasse through the quiet beech forest down to the Aaried plain and back to Giswil station.
