The Swiss Landscape Protection Foundation awarded Ibergeregg as Landscape of the Year 2019. The bog forests of Ibergeregg are among the rare and endangered habitats in our country.

The excursion to the “far north” starts in Brunni SZ with a ride on the Holzegg aerial cableway – towards the mighty Mythen. On the walk, the view repeatedly invites you to pause: over the Schwyz basin, Lake Lauerz and Lake Uri, and later also towards the Ybriger mountains. For a refreshment on the way, a stop at the Zwäcken alpine farm or the Passhöhe Ibergeregg restaurant is recommended.

After Ibergeregg, the path leads through a mosaic of bog areas, meadows, and forests with moist soils. You feel as if transported to Scandinavia. No wonder the Swiss Landscape Protection Foundation awarded Ibergeregg in 2019. The hike ends in Oberiberg (bus stop Oberiberg, Neuseewen).

Author´s Tip / Recommendation of the author

Plan enough time to also discover the wonders of nature along the path. Taste the blueberries on the left and right during your hike when they are ripe in early August.
