Sursee Fountain Tour

There are 30 fountains to explore in Sursee—more than half of them in the Old Town. During the two-phase renovation carried out from 1997 to 1998 and from 2012 to 2014, the Old Town was significantly revitalized, and the diverse fountains were purposefully integrated into the attractive new townscape. For these efforts, Sursee was honored with the Ernst and Hanna Hauenstein Prize.

Set out on a short walking tour to explore the fountains of Sursee’s Old Town. You’ll be surprised by the creative variety of fountains. Among them, for example:

• The Town Hall Fountain, a flat stainless steel roundel in the center of the old town
• The Marienbrunnen in the Upper Town, preserved in its traditional style
• The peephole at the Somehuus, which offers a glimpse of the hidden canals beneath the buildings
• The “Hörloch,” which brings sounds from the Port of Rotterdam all the way to Sursee’s Old Town
