- Destination: Andermatt train station
The hike starts at the Andermatt train station and first leads to the roundabout near Coop and the bakery. From there, you go up Oberalpstrasse to the Wyler district of the village. A few meters past the chapel, an alpine road branches off to the right. Follow this road through the romantic Unteralp valley until you reach the Vermigel hut. Along the way, you will pass lush meadows, the Unteralpreuss river, and streams. After a break at the Vermigel hut, return the same way back to Andermatt.
However, the Vermigel hut is also accessible by other well-developed hiking trails. The hut is located at 2042 m above sea level at the end of the Unteralp valley and delights families, hikers, and winter tourers alike as a small and cozy SAC accommodation. Located on the "Sunnsbiel" viewing terrace, the hut is a starting point for numerous rewarding hikes as well as many popular bike, snowshoe, and ski tours on the main Alpine ridge and a stage destination on the Four-Sources Trail.

Directions
From Andermatt train station, follow the road into the village. Between the restaurants Spycher and Sternen, hikers climb a narrow staircase (Staltenweg) up to Oberalpstrasse, which they follow for a short distance. At the restaurant Chuchichästi, an alpine road with a driving ban branches off to the right (hiking trail sign). Hikers follow this initially paved road for about three hours through the romantic Unteralptal valley, constantly accompanied by the Unteralpreuss. Only towards the end of the hike, on the Vermigel plain, do you see the stage destination. On a bridge by the old hut, you cross the Reuss, and after a final ascent, the hut is reached.
