The walking path leads from the train station, over the Alp bridge and then past the hospital to the Chatzenstrick pass height. The pass height is at 1053 m and connects the towns of Einsiedeln and Altmatt. From Chatzenstrick you have a wonderful view of the Central Swiss Alps. After reaching the pass height, there is a path down to Altmatt. From there, you have the option to return by train to Einsiedeln or walk back the same way over the pass to Einsiedeln.
Note: From Monday, June 10, 2024, the uppermost section of Katzenstrickstrasse (section from the chapel to Günsliweg) will be renovated. It is planned that the renovation will be completed by mid-August 2024. The detour regarding the hiking path can be found on the signage plan.
