The hiking trail from Gotthard Pass to Göschenen stretches over a breathtaking route in the midst of the Swiss Alps. The path offers not only a fascinating insight into the natural beauty of the region but also into the rich history and culture associated with Gotthard Pass.
Starting at Gotthard Pass at 2106 m above sea level, the hike begins with a gentle descent along a well-marked path. Hikers then continue along the route, lined with lush alpine meadows and rugged rocks. The path leads past the idyllic mountain villages Hospental and Andermatt, where various restaurants invite you to stop. From Andermatt, the trail goes into the impressive and legendary Schöllenen Gorge and over the old Devil’s Bridge. From there, you have a fantastic view of the rushing Reuss. Surrounded by steep rock walls, you then walk along the very well prepared hiking trail through the Schöllenen to the destination Göschenen.

Directions & Parking facilities
For travel by car, it is recommended to drive to Andermatt, Hospental, Göschenen or Airolo. All villages are accessible from all four directions.
In Andermatt, Hospental, Göschenen and Airolo there are various parking options near the path and public transport.
To start the route, take the postbus to Gotthard Pass from Andermatt or Airolo. Upon arrival at the destination in Göschenen, there are train connections back to Andermatt and Airolo as well as towards Zurich/Lucerne/Basel. The postbus timetable is as follows: Postbus timetable
