Hikers can follow in the footsteps of the local Alpine flora on the beautiful Unteralp loop trail. On the herbal nature trail, you’ll discover a wide variety of plants and learn more about the uses and medicinal properties of each herb.
The Aurira Herb Guide is available at the Tourist Information office in Andermatt.
The beautiful loop trail in Unteralp leads from the village bridge up a flight of stairs to the Mariahilf Chapel. Just a few meters further on, the first rest area—complete with a fire pit and a stream—invites you to linger. After a short break, the trail leads up to the Schützenhaus. From there, you’ll enjoy a beautiful view of the Urschnertal, the Nätschen, and the surrounding mountains. The trail then continues to the Gurschenbach waterfall. Crossing the bridge, you begin the descent once again. Follow the trail further into the valley, turning right at the fork until you reach lush meadows; then cross a small bridge to the other side of the valley to take the trail back to Andermatt.
