From Rapperswil, the route leisurely follows the beautiful Obersee with its reed belts and inviting country inns. In Schmerikon, the canton and direction change, after which the route disappears into the mysterious Buchberg forest. Only in Lachen SZ do you come back among people, but properly so. This is the Côte d'Azur of Central Switzerland, complete with sparkling wine and barbecue. Strengthened like this, the guest climbs the Etzel Pass, which requires over 500 meters of altitude gain. The reward is a continuously growing panorama with wonderful views all the way to the city of Zurich. At the pass, a guesthouse or the chapel tempt, depending on the type of thirst. The immediately following Devil's Bridge can also awaken a certain taste for the mysterious. Only in Einsiedeln does all the occult fade away, and the impressive monastery welcomes the guest on its huge forecourt.
