From a scenic point of view, the Hummel route can be described as "spectacular." A significant part of the route corresponds to the course of the Einsiedeln "Iron Bike Race," which takes place every September.

From the station, you ride to the monastery and then along the main road towards Gross. At the restaurant "Steinbach," you leave the small viaduct over the Sihlsee on the left and follow the side road over Ahorenweid to Rütirank. Less than a kilometer remains until the ascent through the Schrälwald begins. After overcoming the first three kilometers of incline on asphalt, an interesting section of about five kilometers with little elevation difference follows to Unteren Hummel.

From there, you enjoy a unique view over the Sihl, Zurich, Pfäffiker, and Greifensee lakes. When visibility is good, the view even extends as far as the Black Forest. From Hummel, after a prolonged climb, you experience a rapid descent towards Gross. At the intersection (bridge) in front of the Steinauer sawmill, turn left and after one kilometer you reach the Chälen.

There, leave the road to the left. After about ten minutes, you find yourself on the Chüeboden. This is followed by the last descent to Eigen; via Trachslau and Frauenkloster Au it gently slopes back to Einsiedeln. As a variant, you can reach Einsiedeln directly from Chälen via Wäni.
