On the way from Niederrickenbach to Alpboden, the Brisen appears majestic. The Alpboden - Haldigrat chairlift saves 700 vertical meters and the twelve minutes on the chairs give time to slowly get closer to the mountain. At Haldigrat we meet Kurt, who has been operating "his chairlift" and the mountain inn here for almost 20 years.

Directions
The Dallenwil–Niederrickenbach aerial cableway takes us to the starting point of the hike. From Niederrickenbach to Alpboden it takes about 30 minutes of walking time. Then it goes 700 vertical meters up to Haldigrat. Those who want can overcome these vertical meters using the Alpboden - Haldigrat chairlift. From the Haldigrat mountain station it goes all along the ridge, at the top partly somewhat slippery, to the 2403m high Brisen. The panoramic view is brilliant! Be careful when descending on the southern side of the Brisen and via Steinalper Jochli / Schuenegg. Over the Glattgrat and descent we reach the Brisenhaus, where overnight stays are possible. After a break for refreshments, it goes back to Niederrickenbach.

Author´s Tip / Recommendation of the author
- Other worthwhile ascents for sporty hikers on this two-day route are the Oberbauenstock (2117m) and the Niederbauen (1923m). From the Niederbauenalp, it is not far to the Hundschopf, an unexpected and impressive viewpoint above Lake Uri.
