Impressive cliffs, a breathtaking panorama and various torrents are guaranteed on this hike.

The hike starts in Alpnachstad. The steepest cogwheel railroad in the world takes you up to Pilatus Kulm in just under 30 minutes. The ride itself is an extraordinary experience. If you prefer to take a gondola, you can travel to the summit from Kriens via Fräkmüntegg.

From Drachenberg Pilatus, the path zigzags steeply down to Chilchsteine at the foot of the Matthorn. The short but worthwhile detour to Matthorn is rewarded with a fantastic view over the entire Sarneraa valley. From Chilchsteine, the trail finally continues past the imposing cliffs of the Tomlishorn to Fräkmünt. The trail now winds its way down the mountain to 1300 m above sea level. Below the Hörnli mountain, the trail climbs slowly again via "Unter Chretzen" to "Hinter Chretzen". From there, the trail descends steadily to Ämsigen. The train back to Alpnachstad runs at regular intervals from the Ämsigen cogwheel railroad station.
