As an ideal warm-up phase, walk on a flat route to the fantastic viewpoint Känzeli. Here you will also find a memorial plaque with Goethe’s diary entry on the occasion of his Rigi visit.
Although Queen Victoria of England rode the following section on horseback, the second part can be walked comfortably. A steep but harmless uphill path leads you through shady forest areas, over Alp Räb and Chrüzboden, to the cozy alpine inn Ruodisegg. From there, the path becomes flatter again up to Seebodenalp and then gently descends to Küssnacht, where Wilhelm Tell once ended Gessler in the Hohlen Gasse.
Notes
The current operational status of the railways and hiking trails can be found here.
To ensure that future generations can also enjoy the Queen of the Mountains, please dispose of your waste at the stations of the Rigi railways. Thank you.

Equipment
Sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended.
Directions & Parking facilities
Paid parking spaces are available at the stations of the Rigi railways.
However, we recommend public transport instead of a car: lean back, enjoy, and do something good for the environment at the same time.
The Rigi Kaltbad station can be comfortably reached by cogwheel train from Vitznau or by cable car from Weggis.
The timetables of the Rigi railways can be found here.
Additional information
A visit to the historic Hohlen Gasse is worthwhile.
