The Walenpfad connects the Brunni area with the Bannalp and the Benediktusweg connects the Engelberg monastery with the Maria-Rickenbach monastery. How about a shortened version?

Start at Ristis (or Brunni), where the Berglodge Restaurant Ristis is located. From there, head to the scenic Walenalp and then descend via Brunniswald and Eschlen to Grafenort. If available, the small cable car can be used from Brunniswald.

Ristis (Engelberg) – Walenalp – Brunniswald – Eschlen – Grafenort

From the mountain station of the Brunni cable car from Engelberg or from the Brunni mountain station of the continuing chairlift on the Walenpfad to the scenic Walenalp on Obwalden soil. From here a little forest path leads down to Alp Brunniswald. The area lies on a spur of Nidwalden. The path continues over Eschlen down to Grafenort in the canton of Obwalden.
