The snowshoe forester route is a circular route starting from Seelisberg Oberdorf (pilgrimage chapel) through the romantic Oberwald and back to Seelisberg.

The snowshoe forester trail from Seelisberg starts at the pilgrimage chapel Maria Sonnenberg and leads 8 kilometers and over 200 meters in altitude in about 2 1/2 hours through a uniquely beautiful natural landscape from viewpoint to viewpoint over the entire Oberwald and back to the starting point.

Numerous wooden boards provide information about the importance of the forest for protection, as an energy reserve, or as the largest recreational center in the world.

Directions & Parking facilities

Take the motorway to Beckenried. Shortly after the exit, turn right towards Emmetten. After a short ascent you reach Emmetten, which you pass through. Now follow the road to the Oberdorf of Seelisberg.

You will find enough parking spaces at the pilgrimage chapel Maria Sonnenberg.

You can reach the bus stop Sonnenberg in Seelisberg by post bus from Beckenried.
