The Uri Haute Route is a 5-day ski crossing from Realp to Engelberg, linking the cantons of Uri, Bern and Obwalden. It leads through varied alpine landscapes with glaciers, wide slopes and spectacular viewpoints. The Uri Haute Route is also known as the "Skiers Haute Route" because it offers a particularly large number of downhill meters on north-facing slopes where snow is guaranteed.
The first stage starts in Realp and ends at the Albert Heim hut. Day two leads via Winterlücke and Lochberg to the Chelenalphütte, including breathtaking powder descents to the Göscheneralpsee. On the third day, you reach the highest point of the tour with the Sustenhorn (3,502 m) before heading over the Steingletscher to the Sustenpass. Stage four leads past the Fünffingerstöcken and up to the Uratstock. You spend the night in the Sustlihütte, which lies high above the Meiental valley. The final stage takes you via Grassen to Engelberg, where you reach the end of the tour in Herrenrüti.
The tour offers wonderfully authentic overnight accommodation in rustic mountain huts, so that you can tackle the next stage refreshed and well rested.
