Gitschenen aerial cableway

At 1600 metres above sea level, the peaceful sun terrace of Gitschenen awaits you. To get there, either take the bus or drive your own car to picturesque Isenthal - the journey up is an adventure in itself! In St. Jakob you then change to the cable car and after an eight-minute journey you reach Gitschenen. You can only get there by cable car or on foot, as there is no road. High above the Isenthal valley, you can now enjoy the tranquillity and beauty of nature.

From Gitschenen, there are numerous hikes and mountain tours to choose from. There's something for everyone here, regardless of the level of difficulty. Hike through picturesque alpine meadows and observe the unique flora and fauna. The circular trail on Gitschenen is ideal for a family outing. It takes about an hour, and halfway up you will come to a barbecue area where you can take a break.

The Gitschenen mountain inn serves fresh and lovingly prepared dishes made with regional ingredients. If you would like to stay longer, double or multi-bed rooms are available in the mountain inn.

The Alpstubli is just a three-minute walk from the cable car and offers regional specialities. There is a bubble right next to the Alpstubli where you can spend the night.

Discover something new and spend your holiday on the farm. At the Kneiwies mountain farm, you can sleep on straw or spend the night in a holiday flat. Enjoy the quiet night and buy products directly from the farm such as milk, cheese, eggs or home-grown herbal tea as a souvenir.
