Right at the beginning of the hike, you have to overcome the first 250 meters of elevation within 3 km. You reach the Böhler Pass height via a rock gorge, where you are rewarded with a stunning panoramic view. Shortly after, make a detour up to the Hohliebi and then back down to Rued Castle. The original castle was built in the mid-13th century as a fortress on a prominent rock ledge. The Rued family soon died out and there were numerous changes of ownership in politically turbulent times. Finally, the castle burned down in 1775. From 1792 to 1796, it was replaced by the present neoclassical castle building. Treat yourself to a house-brewed beer at the Gasthaus zum Storchen before returning to the original route and continuing to Gontenschwil. From Gontenschwil, you have to gain elevation again to reach the next viewpoint: the Hochwacht with the Hombergturm. This view of lakes and mountains will also captivate you. Now it goes down to Beinwil am See. Stroll comfortably to the lake, where you can enjoy dining and relaxing in one of the lakeside restaurants.
