- Start: Mountain station Gumen, 8784 Braunwald (1,906 m)
- Destination: Glattalp (SZ)
The starting point is the mountain station of the Kombibahn Gumen above Braunwald. The path first climbs gently; after half an hour it gets steeper and goes uphill towards Bützi (2,155 m above sea level). It is worth looking back here to take a last look into the Glarus region. Ahead lies the highlight: the march through the largest karst fields in Switzerland straight to Erigsmatt.
Attention: Karst formations are rugged rock formations with many channels, cracks, and holes. Walking through this unique karst area requires your full concentration.
From Erigsmatt, the route leads over alpine meadows and along the edge of the karst fields to the Charetal hut. In the mountain summer, over 1,000 sheep graze here. We cross the valley and climb towards Grossbodenkreuz. Those who want to enjoy the full 360-degree panorama take a short detour to the Pfaff viewpoint. From there you can see the Glattalpsee beautifully. Now it is not far to the Glattalpbahn.
