Directions
The circular route starts at the Emmetten, Post post bus stop and continues on the sidewalk towards the village exit/Beckenried. At the end of the sidewalk, turn slightly left onto the hiking trail. On the panoramic trail, you already enjoy the beautiful view over Lake Lucerne for the first time. Now you cross the pedestrian crossing and follow the St. Anna path to the St. Anna Chapel (built in 1902). The St. Anna Chapel is the last remnant of the once large hotel complex of the Schöneck spa institution. The hiking trail now leads through the cooling, bright forest, which repeatedly offers views of Lake Lucerne towards Gersau, to the impressive Choltal Gorge. Along the way, there is the option to shorten the route a bit by taking the somewhat steeper path to the Seeblick Höhenhotel. There you can linger at the barbecue area or on the sun terrace and enjoy the view.
The path continues through the turnstile to the Choltal bridge (made from an old crane boom). On Brennwaldstrasse, you can visit the Heiligkreuz Chapel (built around 1710) with the famous Dance of Death panel. The chapel's bell is already over 600 years old and therefore older than the chapel itself. The path continues through the Sagendorf (Änäd Egg) along the main road over the Egg back to the starting point at the Emmetten, Post post bus stop. If you are already a bit tired in Sagendorf, you can conveniently take the post bus back to the starting point from the Emmetten, Sagendorf post bus stop.

Author´s Tip / Recommendation of the author
A detour to the famous Riselten Gorge. The descent and the subsequent ascent are quite steep and should not be underestimated. But the experience is worth the effort.
