Herzschlaufe Seetal, East branch (Eschenbach LU - Lindenberg - Lenzburg), 48 km
The first stage of the Herzschlaufe Seetal leads right from the start past Eschenbach monastery. The route then disappears onto small paths surrounded by high-stem orchards. Shortly after, one reaches the Johanniter commandery in Hohenrain with a magnificent view of Lake Baldegg and the Alps.
The route continues to climb and ascends the Lindenberg via quiet roads. At the top of the remote plateau, Schloss Horben surprises with a chapel and a restaurant. After passing through a forest, the high ridge route begins. The guest cycles through charming villages and expansive countryside and enjoys views of Lake Hallwil, now in sight.
Again, a castle (Hilfikon) astonishes at an unexpected location and captivates with its noble atmosphere. Over a forest ridge, one reaches Seengen and shortly thereafter the magnificent Hallwyl water castle. After a brief taste of tourist hustle and bustle, the route disappears again into the cozy forest and follows the lively Aabach river to Lenzburg.
Herzschlaufe Seetal, West branch (Lenzburg - Böhler Passhöhe - Eschenbach LU),
66 km
Starting from proud Lenzburg and neighboring Staufen, the quiet route finds a passage behind Seon, leading into an enchanting forest. At its exit, Schloss Liebegg appears unexpectedly out of nowhere. The route disappears again into the greenery of Aargau and reappears only at the crest of Böhler, where one overlooks the wide countryside.
A downhill leads to Schlossrued. Afterward, a crest is climbed again, where one rides for a longer time without village or traffic. Only in Beromünster does one feel back in familiar places and enjoys the splendid landscape to the fullest.
The route leads again traffic-free to the Sempachersee golf course, where you can stop for a short break and enjoy the magnificent view of Pilatus. Shortly thereafter, the Herzschlaufe joins the regional routes 94 and 99 (Herzroute). From there, it is only a stone's throw to Eschenbach.
