Beautiful scenic snowshoe trail along the Fronalpstock to the summit destination. There, after the climb, you can enjoy a well-deserved break at the Fronalpstock Hotel | Restaurant.

The start at around 1300 m above sea level leads you after a slight climb to the intermediate station of the Fronalpstock chairlift. From there, the path continues along the sledding slope with scenic viewpoints. In clear weather, you can see the Schwyz basin and Lake Lucerne. Arriving at the Fronalpstock, located at 1922 m above sea level, you can treat yourself to refreshments at the Fronalpstock Hotel | Restaurant. From the summit itself, you have a breathtaking view of the heart of Central Switzerland and up to 10 lakes. If you do not want to walk down, take one or both sections of the chairlift down. Tickets are available directly at the chairlift stations.

Directions

From the mountain station of the funicular, follow the signs to the Alpstubli restaurant. From there, it is about 200 meters further to the start of the path.

At the start, follow the signs to the Fronalpstock summit.

Equipment

Recommended equipment for snowshoers:

  • Snowshoes, winter shoes (good hiking boots), depending on weather conditions wind jacket, sweater, gloves, hat, sunglasses, gaiters and hiking poles
  • For longer routes, backpack with drink and food
  • Recommended are map 1:25000, compass, if available GPS
  • First aid kit and any necessary medications

Directions & Parking facilities

By car on the A4 to the Schwyz exit, then towards Muotathal to the valley station of the large funicular Schwyz-Stoos or turn onto Morschacherstrasse (at the height of Wolfsprung), then follow the signs to Morschach and continue to the valley station of the small aerial cableway Morschach-Stoos.

Parking options are available at the valley station of the funicular Schwyz-Stoos and the aerial cableway Morschach-Stoos.

By train to Schwyz-Seewen station, then by bus to the valley station of the large funicular Schwyz-Stoos (line 501 Schwyz - Muotathal) or by train to SBB Brunnen station, then by bus to the valley station of the small aerial cableway Morschach-Stoos.
