From Altdorf station, follow Rynächtstrasse to the Reuss bridge in Attinghausen. Here switch to the Reusswuhrweg and ride along the Reuss to the Reuss bridge in Erstfeld.
After crossing the Reuss bridge, follow the side road past idyllic farms and cozy spots along the Reuss through Wiler and Butzen to Amsteg. There you will find the impressive railway bridge over the Chärstelenbach.
Return on the Wuhrweg on the eastern side of the Reuss via Silenen and Ellbogen heading north. In Erstfeld begins the northern ramp of the Gotthard mountain route. Here you have the opportunity to observe the diverse train compositions – a short detour to the panorama tower and the crocodile locomotive is worth it! Back on the Wuhrweg you reach the picturesque Jagdmatt chapel – with the Bristen mountain in the background, a popular photo motif. From the Reuss bridge in Erstfeld, roll back on the known path to the starting point Altdorf station.
