The normal direct ascent from Romiti to Rigi Kaltbad is often wet and slippery. A rewarding and scenic variant is to follow the hiking trail southwards from Romiti towards Oberebnet. At this year-round inhabited mountain farm without road access, you enjoy a comprehensive view and then ascend through lightly wooded terrain to Rigi First. The path passes a stable where wild hay from the slope below the Würzenstock is brought in each late summer.
Notes
The current operational status of the railways and hiking trails can be found here.
So that future generations can also enjoy the Queen of the Mountains, please dispose of your waste at the stations of the Rigi railways. Thank you.
