Uri

Uri begins at the southern end of Lake Lucerne and stretches up to the glaciers of the Gotthard Massif. While some sunbathe at Lake Urnersee, others go skiing in Andermatt, just a 30-minute drive away. Stories and legends, such as the founding of Switzerland in 1291 or the tale of William Tell, also originated in the canton of Uri.
