The Erlebnisweg Obersee is currently the largest and most connecting tourism project on the upper Lake Zurich and links the cantons of Schwyz, St. Gallen and eight municipalities around and across the lake. The route mostly follows the Obersee on existing hiking and cycling paths, through forests and nature reserves. Along the way you meet various characters or members of the Obersee secret society. They all tell you exciting, mysterious, surprising, sad and also funny stories. At the associated experience points you can learn more about them.
All members of the secret society guard a treasure that is at risk of sinking into the depths of the Obersee. They send you on a secret mission with the explorer backpack. If you manage to solve their tasks, you will be admitted to the Obersee secret society and thus become the guardian of the Obersee treasure.
More information and where to get the explorer backpack can be found at www.erlebnisweg-obersee.ch.

Directions
The hiking path leads from Pfäffikon station to Hotel Seedamm Plaza. At Seedamm Plaza you get the explorer backpack and if needed also something nice to eat and drink.
Tips:
- If you want to spend some time in Pfäffikon, we can recommend, for example, cooling off at the public swimming pool or having fun swimming at Alpamare, the largest water park in Switzerland.
- For culture lovers, the Vögele Culture Center offers multimedia exhibitions with relevant topics from our everyday life.
From Seedamm Plaza follow the hiking path towards Altendorf.
Up to Lidwil, route 84 runs across residential areas and between the lake and railway line on a very narrow path. There is a barbecue spot directly at the lake along the way.
Arriving in Lidwil you meet our Edward Quinn, who opens his photo album for you.
Continue on the hiking path past the pump track towards Badi Altendorf. Next to the pump track there is a barbecue spot with tables right by the lake.
Further ahead on Seestrasse you meet the Countess of Altendorf. From her place you have a wonderful view of Rapperswil Castle and the lake.
Continue over the railway bridge to the right towards the main street. At Knobel Bakery the Schlipfloch Witch is waiting for you.
Now you have to go back again towards Seestatt. Before Seestatt take the hiking path to the right towards Lachen.
Tip:
- If you have time, a detour to Seestatt Altendorf, a village of historical significance, is worthwhile. At the boat dock, a ZSG passenger ship or the Obersee ferry sometimes docks.
Follow route 84 to Lachen. In Lachen you pass the Holy Cross church and hike towards the harbor.
At Seeplatz you find the composer Joachim Raff and the Raff archive. At Marina Lachen you can end your hiking day with a wonderful view of the harbor and the lake before heading back to Lachen station.
Congratulations! You have completed a stage.
Tips:
- If you have enough time, we recommend a detour to the Lachner Aahorn. There you will find the Great Crested Grebe.
- Or treat yourself to a cooling off at the public swimming pool in Lachen.
