This is a suggested stage for hikers on the Erlebnisweg Obersee.

The Erlebnisweg Obersee is currently the largest and connecting tourism project at the upper Lake Zurich and links the cantons of Schwyz, St. Gallen, and eight municipalities around and across the lake. The path runs mostly along the Obersee on existing hiking and cycling routes, through forests and nature reserves. Along the way, you meet various characters or members of the Obersee secret society. They all tell you exciting, mysterious, surprising, sad, and also funny stories. At the corresponding experience points, you can learn more about them.

All members of the secret society are guarding a treasure, which, however, threatens to sink into the depths of the Obersee. They send you on a secret mission with the explorer backpack. If you manage to solve their tasks, you will be admitted to the Obersee secret society and thus become the guardian of the Obersee treasure.

More information and where you can get the explorer backpack can be found at www.erlebnisweg-obersee.ch.

Directions

At the Visitor Center of Rapperswil Zürichsee Tourism, you get your explorer backpack.

Then go from the Visitor Center to OST – the Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences. There you can meet the Student. Around OST, there is a playground and many sports facilities (exercise equipment, slackline, beach volleyball).

The path leads you over Switzerland's longest wooden bridge at 841 m to Hurden. Follow the path further and cross the Seedamm at the traffic light in Hurden and continue on route 84 towards Pfäffikon. Along the way, you will find a very beautiful and spacious picnic and playground area.

Tip:

  • If you want a fine and elegant meal, make a detour to the Hotel Restaurant Rössli in Hurden. Beautiful place with a garden terrace directly by the lake.

Before the entrance to Gasthof Seefeld, keep right and go through the underpass. By the way, you are in the Frauenwinkel nature reserve. Various information panels inform you about flora and fauna.

Continue on the hiking trail to Hotel Seedamm Plaza. There, take the underpass to get under the railway tracks to the hotel.

You can take a break and indulge yourself gastronomically at Seedamm Plaza. If you do not yet have an explorer backpack, you can also get it there.

Tips:

  • If you want to spend some time in Pfäffikon, how about cooling off at the swimming area or enjoying the Alpamare, the largest water park in Switzerland.
  • For culture lovers, the Vögele Cultural Center offers multimedia exhibitions with relevant themes from our daily life.

From Seedamm Plaza, always follow the hiking trail towards Altendorf.

Until Lidwil, route 84 runs through residential neighborhoods and between the lake and the railway line on a very narrow path. You will find a barbecue area directly at the lake along the way.

Arriving at Lidwil, you will meet Edward Quinn. He opens his photo album for you.

Continue on the hiking trail past the pump track towards the Altendorf swimming area. Next to the pump track, directly by the lake, is a barbecue area with tables.

Further ahead, you will meet the Countess of Altendorf. From her spot, you have a magnificent view of Rapperswil Castle and the lake.

Continue over the railway bridge to the right towards the main street. At Knobel bakery, the Schlipfloch witch is waiting for you.

And there is also the "Schweizerhof" bus stop.

Tip:

  • If you have time, a detour to the Seestatt Altendorf is worth it, a place of historic significance. Occasionally, a ZSG scheduled ship or the Obersee ferry docks at the pier.

Congratulations! You have completed a stage.
