- Start: Muota Schoolhouse
- Destination: Muota Schoolhouse
You start in the old and most beautiful part of Muotathal: in the «Wil» near the schoolhouse. Passing the parish church and ossuary, the path gently climbs, always with a view of the impressive rock face shaping the valley to the north: the Chileflue.
Open terrain, smaller forest sections, and farmhouses characterize the hike. At the highest point of the route, there is also a farmhouse – with a self-service broom pub. With the best view of the down-to-earth and elongated village of Muotathal and the Muota River, this is the ideal place to embrace tranquility.
On the way back, you will see the St. Josef Monastery, the oldest active Franciscan convent in Europe. It is considered a special place of power. It also offers you another opportunity to pause and listen to nature before returning to the starting point and daily life.
