- Start: Giswil
- Destination: Giswil
The start is at Giswil train station and leads via the pedestrian and bike path towards the school facilities and Durnacheli. Here you are in the middle of a widely scattered village. This type of settlement has its origins in the Alemannic period. At the school facilities, you ride towards the Laui, one of the largest and most dangerous mountain streams in Switzerland. The Laui can be crossed via a wooden footbridge, where shortly after the "old church" appears, which serves as a monument to the Laui flood of 1629. This quiet place gives strength for the next stage, which first follows the Helferweg and then the Altibach towards Emmetti.
But first, you discover the wonderfully restored Schlegelsäge on Geristrasse, which uniquely showcases the old craft in Switzerland. The path leads on a partly steep natural road through the Emmetiwald to the Sakramentskapelle above Giswil. If you're thirsty during the steep climb, you can refresh yourself at the spring by the Sakramentskapelle.
The return path leads to Alp Emmetti with a beautiful view of Lake Lungerer, the Brünig Pass and the Bernese Alps. The path leads to Bürglen, a hamlet belonging to the upper Obwalden municipality of Lungern. If you're still fresh, you can take the circular route around Lake Lungerer (Variant B), or go directly from Bürglen to Kaiserstuhl. The bike route then follows the well-known Way of St. James to Giswil. After partly wonderful bike trails through the forest, the village area with Giswil train station, the starting point, is approached again. At the starting point, the beautiful restaurant garden invites you to a well-deserved refreshment, where you can reflect on what you experienced in the beautiful nature and sights.
