A grand high plateau stretches from Melchsee-Frutt to Tannalp.

Across varied alpine terrain, one reaches the Tannensee from Melchsee on a soft moorland hiking path with gentle ups and downs. At the dam of the Tannensee, a small road ascends to the Schnuer terrace, from where there is a magnificent view of the Bernese Alps and the Titlis. A short mountain path leads down to the Tannalp restaurant, then past Vogelbüel into the Hengliboden.

Here comes the surprise! At the back of the Hengliboden, young bearded vultures were released for the first time in Central Switzerland in early summer 2015 in the nearby crags. They can be observed from mid-June to the end of July at the info booth, as they fledge and start their first flight attempts. On the way back, hikers are accompanied by a varied alpine flora along the southern shore of the Tannensee, where well-equipped fire pits invite rest.
